On November 26, 2018, one day after his 88th birthday, Dr. Louis Paul Kirschner passed peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, Linda, and his four children Nora, Rick, Andras and Melinda. Dr. Kirschner survived World War II, and graduated from medical school shortly before escaping Communist occupied Hungary in January of 1957. He started his life in America in Cleveland Ohio. After completing his training in Radiology, he was an associate professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Dr. Kirschner went into private practice and was the first physician in Northern Virginia to have a CT Scanner in his office. As the first Chairman of Radiology at Doctors Community Hospital, he was a proud doctor for over 40 years and worked well into his 80’s. He was a teacher and mentor to many throughout his career and was passionate about helping others and deeply loved the practice of medicine. Remembered for his kindness and generosity to countless people, he was a loving father and devoted husband. The family will hold a private service. A celebration of life for family, friends and colleagues will be held later in 2019. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to your local ALS Chapter.
