Obituary

Obituary for Christopher Alexander "Riley" Medrano

Christopher A. Medrano “Riley” passed away unexpectedly on December 24 at age 19. Chris was raised in Silver Spring and Potomac. He graduated from Wootton High School where he was on the wrestling team during his freshman and sophomore years and from Thomas Edison High School of Technology in May. He then began his career as an apprentice electrician at Altimate Electric, Inc. in June.
Chris was a gentle, caring soul who was always polite and respectful to his teachers and other adults in his life and silly and fun-filled with his friends. He enjoyed watching the UFC, listening to and playing country music, and learning to surf. He took great joy in spending many hours sharing his love of Game of Thrones with his family and friends.
Chris is survived by his mother Ana Medrano and stepfather Jeffrey Gray, his father Santos Medrano and stepmother Lionila Escobar, his sisters Yessica Torres and Abigail Medrano, his nieces Selena and Annabelle Torres, and his grandmother Gene Jesano. Chris is also survived by numerous loving family members and friends and his much-loved dog Danny. He will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received on Friday, January 3, 2020, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 am (Sat) at Iglesia Pentecostal La Voz de Cristo al Mundo, 5406 Old National Pike, Mt. Airy, MD 21771, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2020, at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Norbeck Memorial Park.

Thank you for being my friend even though I was very unpopular. You gave me optimistic views even in the darkest times. Ill never forget the party with you and the school memories. If only I could have afforded a phone to keep in contact sooner. Rest well my friend.

Chris
You were always a good guy to watch the UFC with, so excited about it and life itself.

My heart and prayers are with this family as they grieve the loss of Chris. I was there the day Chris was born, Growing up Jessica was my best friend for many years. I was unable to attend the funeral services because I have a Newborn but my thought have been with the family since I heard this news.

I hung out with him only a few times. He was the boyfriend of my friend’s, Alex, sister. However, when we did meet, he was a pretty cool dude. I even starred in a film with him called “Small Towns” where he was a great actor and he choreographed a fight scene. I couldn’t believe he killed himself when I first heard about it. I wish he could’ve gotten some help. Riley was a great guy and he will he missed by all. I hope he’s resting in peace and enjoying heaven. - Mak J.
