Freddy Hernandez

December 12, 1950 — November 20, 2020

Freddy Alberto Hernandez, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2020, at the age of 69 after fighting bravely against COVID-19. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cristina; and his children, Evelyn, Freddy Jr., and Louis.
Freddy was born on December 12, 1950, in Granada, Nicaragua to Anita Mejia and Augusto Hernandez. He was a lifelong and proud resident of the state of Maryland, where he fervently cheered for the Washington Redskins and the New York Yankees. For over 20 years, Freddy was a dedicated bank teller at Bank of America. He was continuously recognized for his impeccable ability to make every customer feel like family, many of whom made sure to only be serviced by Freddy.
While every award and accolade were celebrated, to his family, the recognitions were never a surprise. Freddy was gifted with an exemplary ability to make everyone feel like he truly cared about their wellbeing. He made sure to call everyone he loved on their birthday to serenade them with a passionate Happy Birthday rendition. Whether he was dancing at family gatherings, or enjoying his Sunday bingo, Freddy brightened up the room with his cheerful personality.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. An irreparable hole is left in every heart that he touched, which will only be amended when we all see him again; dancing in heaven with his mother and waiting for the rest of us with open arms.
