June Patricia Capacchione

June 25, 1930 — October 25, 2021

June Patricia Capacchione of Rockville, passed away on October 25, 2021, at Casey House after a short illness. She was 91. She is survived by daughters Bonnie (Bruce) Reed and Marianne Capacchione, sons Glenn (Connie) Capacchione and David (Cecilia) Capacchione, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, including Lynn Turner. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Anthony Capacchione, and passed away on what would have been their 72nd anniversary.

June was born June Whipp in Washington, DC, on June 25, 1930. She attended Eastern High School, where she was a member of the Honor Society. After marrying, she moved to Montgomery County, where she became an active member of Hughes United Methodist Church. Her numerous contributions to the church included leading the Golden Age group for many years and serving on the finance committee. June was known for her collection of beautiful hats, but more importantly for her devotion to the Lord. She spent at least an hour each day in prayer and Bible study.

June was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader and crossword-puzzle solver, and a baseball fan who loved Cal Ripken. She studied American art pottery and glass, of which she had a large collection.

For the last several years, June lived independently with the help of devoted aides, and then moved to Maple Ridge Assisted Living, where she received excellent care.
