Bobby Gene Childers, Jr., a resilient and dedicated Father, Brother, Husband and G-pa who overcame hearing disabilities and physical challenges, passed away on August 5, 2024, at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown Maryland. He was born on June 1, 1955, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to Shirley and Bobby Childers Sr. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Gladys Summers.
Bobby's life was a testament to perseverance and hard work. Despite the obstacles he faced, he carved out a remarkable career contributing to our society's infrastructure with unwavering determination and loyalty. His proudest accomplishments included sharing his hunting bounty with homeless shelters and dedicating over 40 years to his profession as a Critical Facilities Engineer.
Known for his big heart and kindness, Bobby touched the lives of everyone he met. His sense of humor shone through as he tried to pronounce words he didn't hear correctly, bringing laughter to those around him. He had a passion for the Dallas Cowboys, sports of all kinds, and staying connected through social media.
In May, Bobby was diagnosed with invasive mucosal melanoma. Despite starting immunotherapy treatments in June with anticipation and hope, his body eventually succumbed to the illness on August 5. His passing marks the end of a courageous battle against a formidable foe.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Childers, brother, Jimmy Childers, son Bobby Childers III, stepdaughter Amanda Faye, stepsons Mujahed and Omar, grandchildren Kayle, Abdulla, Ghina, Ghadir, Ghedha, Corina, Scarlett; great-grandchild Adonia; as well as many cousins, close friends and co-workers who will cherish his memory forever.

Bobby's legacy of resilience, dedication to others, and the ability to bring joy wherever he went will be dearly missed but never forgotten by those fortunate enough to have known him.
