Carol Fortune

On October 29, 2022, Carol Fortune peacefully passed away in hospice care at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown Maryland, after a long health battle. Carol was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 13, 1946, to parents Shirley Holmes and Clifford Blakely. She was the beloved wife of William Auburn Fortune, to whom she was married for 45 years. Carol was a loving mother to Tracey Johnson, Ayeola Fortune, Alafia Fortune, Kazembe Fortune, and Kwamina Fortune. She was a devoted grandmother to Akeem Henderson, Rashad Banks, Hadiya Hewitt, Anike Banks, Amirah Hewitt, and Ajane Johnson, and great grandmother to Nuriyah Banks.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, from 10:00 to 11:30am at Thibadeau Mortuary Services, p.a., 124 E Diamond Avenue, Gaithersburg, Maryland, 20877. Gatherers will process to Maryland National Memorial Park, 13300 Baltimore Avenue, Laurel, Maryland 20707 immediately following for a commemoration of Carol’s life and internment at 1:00pm.
