Charles Gary Moore

Our Dad passed the same day, 13 years after we buried Kristofer- sadly, we think Kris needed him a little more than we did.
Charles Gary Moore (Feburary 20, 1952-October 20, 2020) took his last breath in the early evening, surrounded by his children and wrapped in wife’s arms. He left behind a 13 children- 1 angel in heaven, 12 sons and daughter in-laws, 30 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Valerie Brannan and husband Ron, Melissa Petros and husband David, Jason Moore and wife Angela, Amy Chesley and husband Randy, Bryan Moore and wife Christina, Alycia Hackenburg and husband Mike, Katrina Graham and husband Ken, Jennifer Moore and husband Nicholas, Brandon Moore and wife Otylia, Kristofer Moore- our angel in heaven, Lisa Nunes and husband Blake, Andrea Williams and husband Tylor, Danielle Andrews and husband Justin.
Our Dad died a loving and important man. We knew our Dad and Mom as a team who served their country in the United States Air Force. 16 of their children followed in their footsteps- 14 Air Force, 1 Marine, and 1 Army who finally came to her senses and later commissioned into the Air Force. He was a man of unshakable conviction, integrity and honor. He always put his family first. He never met a stranger, and they were sure to know everything about us kids if they were to listen to him for 10 min. or maybe 20.
“You are born with ability to change someone’s life. Don’t waste it.” was his motto, and this was the way he lived.
Our father was one of the hardest working men we knew. He worked multiple jobs at one time, just to provide for his family. He taught each of us the value of a great work ethic. His retirement years were spent working along side our mother at Dollywood. They loved their life there. The friends they made will always be a part of him. We always believed heaven would be like Dollywood. He liked to watch CNN- for what felt like 24 hours a day. It was more like 20 because he also loved to watch Hallmark movies with our mom. He said he could still keep up with the stories after losing almost all his eyesight 15 years prior. He adored all of his children and grandchildren, and because of that, we children greatly loved him back. We will miss him and honor him and keep him in our memory every day. We will always remember the life lessons, stories he gave us.
Our Dad was always proud of his son Kristofer for giving the gift of life through organ donation, and was able to follow in HIS footsteps. “Change the ending to someone else’s story.” he always said.
We will be laying our father to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. Thibadeau Mortuary in Gaithersburg, MD has assisted with the arrangements.

Rest in peace Dad, we will miss you. And know we will take care of Mom, because she lost her best friend. Between now and then, until we see you again. Love, Us.
