Danny Russell Kelley, 69, of Verner, WV, departed this life on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. Born May 30, 1950, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Columbia Bragg Kegley. He was a member of the Verner Community Church and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Browning, and five brothers: KC, Rodney, and Bill Kegley, Harry McClure, and Clarence Johnson.
Danny was a coal miner by trade for twenty-five years before retiring in 1998. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Darnell) Kegley, two sons: David (Racheal) Cook of Fredericksburg, VA, and Phillip (Karen) Cook of Gilbert, WV; five grandchildren: Morgan Cook, Cooper Cook, Hunter Lester, Bryson Cook, and Kaden Cook; sisters: Phyllis Hardy and Sue Curry.
Friends may gather with the family on Friday, October 4, 2019, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Verner Community Church where a celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at the Dye Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Harvey, Zeke Davis, Chris Sparks, Levi Davis, Chris Ernest, George Curry, John Kegley, and Erick Kegley. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Kyle Griffin, Arnold Simpson, and Danny Darnell.
Danny was a humble man who never met a stranger and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
