On Monday, January 20, 2025, David Lamarr Thibadeau, Sr., at the age of 62, passed away peacefully (or, as he would have said, "Finally got some rest.") surrounded by family, love and laughter. He was born on Friday, January 11, 1963, in Washington, DC, to the late, Janette Helen (nee Buckner) Thibadeau and Robert Tondorf Thibadeau, Sr.
Dave lived his life with a witty remark on his lips, a cigarette in one hand, a drink in the other, and his eye on the (relatively) hot (and often fat) chicks. He was a son, brother, father and a dedicated employee to NVR, Inc for 20+ years. Though his ashtray is now empty, and his spot on the couch vacant, his legacy of laughter and questionable advice lives on.
Dave is the father of David Lamarr Thibadeau, Jr (Marjorie) of Gaithersburg, MD, Kim Thibadeau Jenkins of Thurmont, MD, and Catherine Marie Hanvey (Larry Sr.) of Sabillasville, MD; grandfather of six beautiful grandchildren, Jacob Scott Thibadeau, William “Liam” Donald Jenkins Jr, Larry Eugene “LJ” Hanvey Jr, Leilani Rose Thibadeau, Landon David Jenkins, and Maddox James Thibadeau; brother of Denise Yvonne Lankes of Leesburg, VA, Robert "Uncle Boob" Tondorf Thibadeau, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD, Paulette Marie Ladas (Andrew) of Silver Spring, MD, Richard "Uncle Dickie" William Thibadeau of Washington, DC, and James Joseph Thibadeau of Silver Spring, MD. He is also loved and missed by his God Daughter Payton Elizabeth Cillay, her mother, Nancy Deborah Cillay both of Frederick, MD, and his life-long best friend and dedicated caretaker Les Lewis of Thurmont, MD. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and two sisters, Lisa Charlet Thibadeau, and Theresa Janette Watson who are surely welcoming him with open arms and a pack of smokes.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 12:00 noon until we are kicked out, at the Event Center of the Thurmont Carnival Grounds, 123 E Main St, Thurmont, MD 21788. Police are welcome, but let's not require their attendance by misbehaving.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Dave in a way he would truly appreciate: share a drink with a friend, tell a joke that’s just shy of inappropriate, light a candle (or something else), and toast to a life well-lived and well-lit. Dave wouldn’t want your tears—he’d want your laughter, your best stories, and maybe a slightly-too-full glass of something strong.
We invite you to join us in celebrating David's life on this dedicated webpage. Your condolences, stories, videos, and pictures will be cherished by the family and provide comfort during this difficult time.
