Loving father, Pedro Herrera passed away on July 30th, 2023. Pedro was 72 and was surrounded by his wife and children when he passed.
Pedro was born to Juan Herrera and Luz Amaya on March 2nd, 1951 in Sensuntepeque Cabañas, El Salvador. Growing up his favorite activities were climbing trees, playing soccer, walking, outdoors and reading. He attended the National University of El Salvador and graduated with a degree in Medicine. After graduating, Pedro worked in a Military Hospital during the civil war before moving on to become the Director of the National Health Department.
In 1974, Pedro met Norma, a match truly made in heaven. Pedro & Norma went on to have 6 children, Carlos, Ricardo, Pedro Jr., Deborah, Kailey, and Daniel. In 1996, Pedro and his wife began their new journey in the U.S. Pedro’s passion for education continued and he received a bachelor’s degree in Gerontology from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
Pedro was a loyal servant to God. He loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. Pedro helped and loved selflessly. Throughout his life, he helped countless individuals with obtaining a pathway to citizenship, English literacy, and basic computer skills training. Now that Pedro has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Pedro’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
