Evelyn Lee Mehoves passed away on August 6th, 2024, at Brightview West End in Rockville, Maryland, where she lived happily since 2018. She was 103 years old. Born in Texas on August 3rd, 1921, to Herman and Lillian Cardwell, she grew up in Dallas and later spent many happy years making homes in Texas, Maryland and Virginia. Evelyn had a distinguished career with Manor Healthcare where she became one of the first licensed nursing home administrators in Maryland. She later became a successful real estate agent in Plano, Texas. She was married to John Herman Mehoves in 1945. Together they raised four children in a close and loving family. They had been married for seventy-three years when John passed away in 2018. Their eldest daughter, Gail Lee, passed away in 2020. Evelyn leaves behind one son, John Mehoves (Deanna) of Front Royal Virginia, and two daughters, Leslie Seuberth (Steve) of Lambertville, New Jersey and Erin Martinko (Leonard) of Derwood, Maryland. In addition, Evelyn was “Granny” to eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. We will miss her presence but feel grateful for the many years we had with her. She was the perfect combination of intelligence, beauty and heart, and loved by all her knew her. A memorial service in her honor will be scheduled later. Interment will be with her husband, John, at Arlington National Cemetery.
