Jane Anne Manning (Age 96) of Bethesda, MD entered into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, December 15, 2022. Born March 3, 1926 in Trenton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Jane and Russell Manning. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Manning, sister Marjorie Pruden, and brother-in-law Jack Pruden.
Jane graduated from Anacostia High after she had already started working at the FBI, where she served for 38-years in the fingerprinting bureau. She was dedicated to the FBI mission and her job. A committed Christian woman, she also graduated from Washington Bible College. Jane worshiped at Takoma Park Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. In the early 1980s she transferring to Fourth Presbyterian Church of Bethesda, Maryland, serving on the Pastoral Care team for many years. Through the years Jane donated to dozens of charities supporting children, animals, Christian causes, and favored politicians.
Her steadfast friend of many decades, Deborah Siler, took care of her in her final illness with the remarkable help of aides Hawanatu, Hadja Mariatu, Assie, and Alima. Special thanks to her dedicated primary care physician Dr. Thomas J. McNamara who treated her with loving care for many years. Laura Manning Johnson backed them up when needed.
Jane is survived by seven nieces and nephews, their spouses, and their many children: Laura Manning Johnson and husband Tom, John Pruden and wife Mary, Ruth Pruden Mason and husband Tom, James Pruden and significant other Linda, Scott Pruden and wife Jennifer, Robert Manning and wife Eva Anderson, and William Manning. She is also survived by her loving cousins: Arlene Manning, Gretchen Wolfinger and husband David Reid, Heidi Wolfinger, David Wolfinger, John Russell and wife Barbara.
On Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 11:00 am a Memorial Service will be held at the Fourth Presbyterian Church 5500 River Road Bethesda, MD 20816. Inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Township, NJ will take place at a later date.
