On Sunday, December 18th, 2022, Maria Clara "Cherry" Golobiogo, age 61, of Silver Spring, MD, entered God's Garden after a long battle with cancer.

Maria or "Cherry", as she is fondly called by friends, was born in the Philippines on January 30,1961 to Victoriano Golobiogo and Aurora Genovis. She is survived by her devoted son, Adam Golobiogo-Bennett of Silver Spring, MD.

Armed with a gutsy and adventurous spirit, Maria/Cherry arrived in the US in the late 1980s and thrived after working for employers with whom she remained close with even during the last years of her life. Her latest employment was with an entertainment production company in Maryland where she served as a House Manager for 15 years.

Maria/Cherry was a woman of many things, but foremost of her characteristics is being a strong, loving, hardworking woman, a wonderful cook, the life of the party, and trailblazer among her peers (she was the first to learn how to drive and became the informal driving instructor to most of her friends). She has a flair for craft (you should have seen her Thanksgiving tablescapes) and she took pride in hosting people in her home, even those she had just met at Church. She liked watching American television shows like The Voice, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, Family Feud, etc.

To say that Maria sacrificed a lot as a mother is an understatement. Her love for Adam is unfathomable, and the outpouring of support he is getting in this time of loss is a testament to how people see that motherly love in her.

Among friends and family in need, Maria/Cherry is the first to rescue, defend, extend an offer of help. Even during the last moments of her life, she was still thinking of others.

She loved and she loved deeply, and she found meaning in selflessness.
