In Loving Memory of Martha Karyn Silver-Russell
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we, the family of Martha Karyn Silver-Russell, announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Martha left us at 5:03 PM on January 31, 2025, surrounded by those she loved most. Her unwavering strength, warmth, and courage stayed with her until the very end after a brave and relentless battle. She was 61 years old.
Martha was truly one of the brightest souls to ever walk this earth. Her compassion, energy, and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She had a unique ability to make people feel loved and cherished, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether through a comforting word, a kind gesture, or simply by offering a listening ear, Martha’s selflessness knew no bounds. She was a woman who would give anyone the shirt off her back without hesitation, offering all she had to help others.
Her incredible selflessness was evident in so many aspects of her life. In the 1990s, Martha made the life-changing decision to donate a kidney to her sister, a testament to her generosity and the depth of her love for her family. Alongside her devoted husband Simon, she also opened their hearts and home to adopt her sister’s son, Carson, providing him with the same love and care she gave to all those she cherished.
Martha was a loving and devoted mother to three wonderful children: Alex, Carson, and Serena. As a mother, she was a constant source of love, strength, and wisdom. She raised her children with fierce devotion, teaching them how to be strong, independent, and deeply caring. Through every trial and triumph, Martha was there — a rock, a safe space, the person we could always turn to. Her love formed the foundation of our lives, and the lessons she imparted will live on in each of us.
As a wife, Martha shared a deep and loving partnership with Simon, her husband. Their bond was one of unwavering support, trust, and devotion. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the strength that only true partnership can bring. Our family’s gratitude for Simon’s role in her life is immeasurable.
Martha’s life was a testament to resilience. She fought breast cancer with unmatched strength, undergoing a double mastectomy and enduring chemotherapy with grace. Despite her valiant efforts, her compromised immune system led to further health complications, but she never wavered in her fight. Even in her final moments, Martha fought with the same spirit that had always defined her life.
In addition to being a fierce and loving mother, Martha was an accomplished potter. She expressed herself through her beautiful, handcrafted pieces, each one crafted with the same care and attention to detail that she gave to everyone she loved.
Martha also had a special bond with her dogs and plants. As an amazing dog mom, she showered her furry companions with affection. Her green thumb turned their home into a vibrant sanctuary, filled with flourishing plants. Her love for animals and nature knew no bounds.
We will forever treasure the moments of solace, laughter, and guidance she gave so freely. She was always ready to listen, comfort, and help. The loss of such a remarkable woman leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled, but we will hold onto the precious memories and lessons she imparted — lessons of love, strength, and selflessness. Martha taught us to live fiercely, unapologetically, and with an open heart for others. We will honor her memory by continuing to do just that.
While words cannot fully express the pain of her absence, we find solace in knowing that Martha’s love, wisdom, and light will continue to guide us. She will always be the heart of our family, and her spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
Martha leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will never be forgotten. She is survived by her devoted husband, Simon; her cherished children, Alex, Carson, and Serena; as well as close family members Lily, Oak, Allison, Min, Poe, Than, Tun, Brigitte, Ron and countless friends whose lives she touched.
Rest in peace, Martha. You will be missed more than words can express, but your love will forever live in the hearts of those who were blessed to know you.
