Mireya Diaz 1941-2020
Her pride and joy was her family. Born on June 30th, 1941, in Caracas, Venezuela, Mireya Diaz often joked about being more willing to tell her age than her weight. She married in 1960 to Carlos Gilberto Diaz (RIP) and mother of three: Mildred Patricia Palencia of Frederick, MD, Luis Adolfo Diaz of Hagerstown, MD , and Jesus Ignacio Diaz of Walkersville, MD. She was the proud grandmother of Andrea Patricia, Carlos Daniel, German Adolfo, and Jesus Adrian. She was a great mother, and sister, a confidant, an irreplaceable soul. She loved dancing and listening to music. She touched the soul of everyone she met. She was caring, loving and a great mother, sister, wife, aunt, grandmother, sister in law, “comadre”, and too many other titles to list, but she did great no matter what role she had in front of her. In 1999, she immigrated to the USA and settled in Frederick, MD. A city that she loved from the moment she set foot in. She loved the change of seasons, the incredible Frederick sunsets, and our occasional country drives. She was the driving force behind “Café Latino Restaurant” which opened in 2003. Her love for cooking and entertaining could only be compared to her passion for her family and friends. She continued working alongside her children at Palmtree Catering, where you could always find her somewhere in the kitchen or helping quietly in the dining room. She was the first one to be ready to work, the most energetic, the most committed. Her home will always be full of memories of a good espresso, homemade treats, and her commitment to welcome everyone. Whether you needed to laugh for a while, a shoulder to cry on, or some old-time advice, her doors were always open. Rest in peace does not quite give her justice, as we all know she will be busy shining her light from heaven to all she loved on this earth
