Mona Soon Koo

On, Monday August 10th, 2020, Moon ("Mona") Soon Koo, age 78, died peacefully in Bethesda, Maryland, surrounded by her loving children and their families. Mona was born in 1941 in Korea to Jae Sum Yoon and Jung Yuh Jeong deceased, and was the youngest of four siblings, all of whom predeceased her in Korea. Mona immigrated to the U.S. with her husband and two children in 1973, inspired by the American Dream. Mona's husband of over over 33 years, Myung ("Michael") Seo Koo, also predeceased her in 1998. Mona is survived by her children, Joseph of Ashburn, Virginia and Gloria of Bethesda, Maryland, and their respective spouses Jeong Seon Koo and Scott Kenneth Reid, as well as four grandchildren (Noah, Noelle, Marlo and Ella).

Mona's innate compassion for others, her unwavering, pure faith in God and love for her family and church community will long be remembered and cherished by those who knew her and will miss the warmth, compassion and celebration of life that she inspired in others throughout her life. In her final days, as she lost a short struggle with advanced cancer, she embraced her peaceful end as only just a beginning to rejoin loved ones who had gone before her and return to the merciful, loving arms of the Lord. Her loving family aspires to greet her once again in heaven and will continue to love, celebrate, honor and remember the warm inspiration of Mona's life.

Church funeral service in lieu of funeral home visitation will be held at New Covenant Fellowship Church in Germantown, Maryland on Sunday August 16th, 2020 at 4pm.
