On Sunday, April 10th, 2022 Monireh Eshtehar Mosleh, age 96 a resident of Leisure World in Silver Spring, Maryland passed away peacefully in Sandy Spring, MD. Beloved wife of the late Rouhullah Mosleh; loving mother of Shahnaz Bernhard of Modesto, CA; the late Victoria Shah Barry of Salisbury, UK; Shahram Mosleh of Alexandria, VA; and Chad Mosley of Springfield, VA. Doting grandmother of Dr. Masood Safaie, Scarsdale, NY; John Shah of London, UK; Angela Bernhard of San Jose, CA; Victoria Bernhard of Corvallis, OR; Florian Mosleh of Buffalo, NY; and Elodie Mosleh of Alexandria, VA. Adoring great grandmother of Yasmeen Safaie of London, UK; Aryas Safaie of New York, NY; Iz Bernhard of San Jose, CA; Laurel Ashcom of San Jose, CA; and River Mosleh of Buffalo, NY. Mrs. Mosleh is also survived by four of her five sisters; Madeleine Maftoon of Tehran-Iran; the late Maliheh Meshkin of Oceanside, CA; Parvaneh Salahshour of Laguna Niguel, CA; Shamsie Gerwick of Fallmouth, CA; and Sabrieh Taylor of Oceanside, CA; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Mosleh was a third generation Baha’i and was raised in a Baha’i family in Hamedan-Iran. The Baha’i Faith aspires to world peace, abolition of prejudice, equality of men and women, and unity of peoples everywhere regardless of color, creed or national origin among its twelve guiding principles. Mrs. Mosleh moved to Tehran after getting married, raised a family, and remained there until moving to the United States due to violent torrents of the Iranian revolution in 1979 that resulted in intensified persecution of the Baha’is in Iran including summary executions, imprisonment, confiscation of personal property and business solely based on their religious beliefs. In 1983 Mrs. Mosleh became a United States citizen and for over 30 years resided in Denver, Colorado until moving to Maryland in 2008. She remained a Baha’i throughout her life and was an active member of the Baha’i Community of Montgomery County Central.
