Nicholas William Pontius, age 50, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in Alexandria, Virginia. Born on July 3, 1974, in Washington, DC, to John Frederick Pontius and Ruth Campbell Pontius, Nick lived a life of compassion, loyalty, and a deep faith in God. Known for his thoughtfulness and devotion to family, Nick was always there to support his loved ones, particularly after the passing of his father, John, in 2016. He stepped up with strength and love, becoming the protector of his family. A cornerstone in both his family and the AA community, Nick was generous, always willing to lend a hand or share what he had with others. Nick is preceded in death by his cherished father, John Frederick Pontius; He is survived by his loving mother, Ruth Campbell Pontius. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, as he left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. 

Nick's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Christ Church Washington Parish, 620 G Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003. Inurnment will take place at Historic Congressional Cemetery, 1801 E St SE, Washington, DC 20003, Where Nicholas will be laid to rest by his late father, John Frederick Pontius. (2016)
