Germantown, Maryland resident, Richard H. Day, died February 20, 2022.
A celebration of his life will be held at his home at 5 Milestone Manor Court on April 2, 2022 starting at 3:00 p.m.
Richard was born on November 27, 1950 in Mitcham, England to Iris May and William Frank Day.
Richard was a Senior Embedded Software Engineer and retired just over four years ago. He was known for his inventiveness and persistence to solve any problem in both his professional and personal life. His former colleagues often called on him to provide insight to challenges they were facing and Richard did not let them down. Colleagues said he was a man of science and an inventor.
He is survived by the love of his life, Kim E. Clarkson, who resides at their Maryland home; his family in England including his brother, Peter Day (Carol); his nephews Alan Day (Sarah), Simon Day (Sarah) and Graham Day (Rachel); and great nephews, Rafferty Day, Reuben Day and great niece, Beatrix Day.
Last year Richard and Kim contracted to build a new home in the country in northern Pennsylvania where they planned to spend their retirement years. Richard was involved in every aspect of the build including wiring the home for every contingency and resolving any problems during the build.
All who knew him described him as a very sweet and kind man. He will be missed and never forgotten.
Richard was a cancer survivor of more than 40 years and donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
