MATUSIAK ROBERT P. MATUSIAK Robert P. Matusiak of Silver Spring, MD died on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in Kensington, MD. He was 65 years old and the husband of Elaine Rose. Born on Staten Island, NY, he was the son of Daniel Matusiak and the late Anne Matusiak. Robert spent his boyhood on Staten Island. He graduated as Valedictorian for the 1967 Class of the Augustinian Academy where he was awarded several scholarships including the National Scholarship to Cornell University, the Knights of Columbus Scholarship and the Regents' Engineering Scholarship to Cornell University. He also earned his Eagle Scout badge, the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting. He received BS and Master degrees in chemical engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business University of Pennsylvania. Most of Robert's adult life was spent with his wife and two children in Wexford, PA, a northern suburb of Pittsburgh. He had been employed as a refinery engineer for Sunoco, Inc in Marcus Hook, PA; Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for Sun Co., in Philadelphia, PA and as Vice President Business Development for National Intergroup, the parent company of National Steel, in Pittsburgh. For 17 years, he was the owner and operator of Acutran, Inc., a transformer manufacturing company in Fombell, PA. A United States Army veteran with a rank of Captain upon honorable discharge in 1980, Robert served on the board of directors of the North Hills YMCA. He enjoyed snow skiing, tennis, model trains, jazz and camping. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Matusiak. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David; his daughter, Lily; his father, Daniel Matusiak, his sisters, Patricia Karnatski (Jack) and Ellen Onorata (Frank); nieces, Leah Savia (Chris) and Alison Malone (Ed); nephews, Jason Karnatski (Vicky), Frank Onorata, III and Keith Onorata; grandnieces and grandnephews, Zachary Malone, Tyler Malone, Victoria Malone, Jenna Karnatski and Frank Onorata IV. His Funeral Mass will be 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 3 at the Barn Chapel, Our Lady of Czestochowa, 654 Ferry Road in Doylestown, PA. Friends and family may call from 10 to noon at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, PA, 18901. Interment will follow Mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to: Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD, Radnor Station Building #2, Suite #320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087)
