On Thursday, September 19th, 2019, Ronald Vincent Murad, (age 96) died peacefully at his home in Germantown, Maryland. Born April 21, 1923, in in Utica, NY, to the late Samual and Ramza (nee Abbache) Murad. Beloved husband of 70 years to Gloria June (nee Dippold) Murad. Loving father of Stephen (Paula) Murad of Germantown, MD. He had seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is also loved and missed by Connie Price of Cape Coral, FL. He was preceded in death by his sons Michael Paul and Matthew James Murad in 1999, and his brother George and sister Mary Brightenstein. He proudly served in the US Army Air Corps (later know as the US Air Force) from 1942 to 1945 as an Aircraft Propeller Mechanic, 9th Bomb Group In 1951 he graduated from the University of Detroit with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. From 1954 to 1962 he worked for IBM in New York, NY, and Bethesda, MD. In December 1962, Ron joined NASA in Washington, DC, as Chief on the Apollo Mission. In 1972 He became head of Shuttle Data Communications and Instrument Systems for the shuttle programs. He retired in 1979. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am on Friday, October 11th, 2019, at Mother Seton Catholic Church, 19951 Father Hurley Blvd. Germantown, MD 20874, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Maryland.
