Samuel Bannister

On Wednesday, March 11, 2020 Samuel Ernest Bannister, Jr., age 95, of Germantown, MD, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, MD. Born February 5, 1925 in Trenton, NJ to the late Samuel Ernest Bannister, Sr. and Jessie (nee Gorski) Bannister. He served his nation honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an avid fan of Philadelphia sports teams. Beloved husband of the late Claire (nee Rakoski) Bannister (2016). Devoted father of James Bryan (Kalle) Bannister Sr. of Germantown, MD. Grandfather of James B. Bannister, Jr. of Rockville, MD, Stacy Grimes (Bradley) of Germantown, MD, Jason P. Bannister (Emily) of Kensington, MD, Kimberly Wilson (David) of Forest Hill, MD, and Kristine Schenck (Robert) of Northfield, NJ. He also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren. He is also missed by many other family members and friends. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
