It is with great sadness that the family of Timothy Alan Conley announces his sudden passing on July 23, 2018 in Bethesda, MD.
Tim was born July 29,1974 in Takoma Park, MD to his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Conley. He attended Paint Branch High School and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1996. During his time at the University of Maryland he was active in intramural sports and served as an officer in the Asian Engineering Student Association, among many other things. He also was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society. Tim volunteered with Youth for Christ and was an active member at his church, which he attended with his family.
In 2009, Tim married the love of his life and best friend Jerlyn, and they have been inseparable since they met in 2002. Together, they served the Lord, enjoyed time with family and friends, played on softball and bowling teams together, and served as coaches for several fastpitch softball teams. He was an active athlete, participating in a variety of team sports. His enthusiasm for sports kept him involved in a fantasy football team, filling out his annual NCAA bracket, and cheering on his favorite college and professional teams.
Tim served as a men’s small group leader for many years through Frontline at Mclean Bible Church. He also participated in Frontline Athletics, and co-led the Frontline softball ministry with Jerlyn. Most recently, he attended Wildwood Baptist Church in Bethesda, MD where he served as an usher, sang in the choir, and helped out wherever and whenever needed.
Tim was a Licensed Civil Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and was employed with the Fairfax County Department of Transportation. He has also previously worked for HNTB Corporation, RJM Engineering, Inc., CH2M Hill, and Dewberry as a Civil Engineer.
Tim was a kind, patient, supportive and loving husband, brother, son, and uncle. His steadfastness, commitment to his faith and willingness to serve others was greatly admired by those around him and will be dearly missed.
Tim is survived by his wife, Jerlyn Conley of Bethesda, MD; his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Conley of Spencerville, MD; a brother, Patrick Conley of Owings Mill, MD; Parents in-law, Jerry and Anita Hua of Bethesda, MD; a Sister-in-law, Jerinae Friedman (Scott) of Seattle, WA; two nieces and a nephew; and a large extended family and countless friends. He is preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Conley, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, July 27th at Wildwood Baptist Church at 10200 Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda, MD 20814 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
A Funeral service will be on Saturday, July 28th also at Wildwood Baptist Church at 11 a.m., followed by interment at the Mt Zion Cemetery, both located at 10200 Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda, MD 20814.
