Timothy Burton Ashley (Tim), age 76, of Rockville, Maryland passed away September 15, 2021 at The Village at Rockville of Lewy Body Dementia. Tim was born in Wichita, Kansas to Burton Edward Ashley and Virginia Capron Ashley. His childhood gave him an appreciation for the world, living in countries such as Nyasaland, Brazil and Australia. He graduated from Temple University with a degree in Economics and then served as a medic in the United States Army before beginning a career in civil service with the United States Government. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 35 years of government service as a procurement analyst and policy and planning analyst. Tim loved athletics, playing softball, volleyball, racquetball, skiing, tennis, and golf whenever possible and cheering on his favorite Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Nationals. He also was an avid traveler with destinations spanning 6 continents. He was always ready for an adventure including a nine day float trip to the Grand Canyon, climbing the Sidney Harbor Bridge, riding a camel in Egypt, completing the Tongariro Crossing in New Zealand, golfing in Vietnam and South Africa, kayaking in Alaska, climbing Waynapicchu in Peru, zip lining in Costa Rica, and enjoying chimpanzee and gorilla treks in Uganda. He was devoted to his family and loyal to his friends. He is deeply missed by his spouse of 50 years, Karen Krider Ashley, daughters Vanessa Burton and Jessica Ashley, son-in-law Chris Burton, grandchildren, Sophia and Matthew Burton, and sisters Sheila Ashley and Chloe Kabisch. He was predeceased by his sister Gwen Ashley. No memorial services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or the First Tee of Greater Washington, DC.
