On August 21, 2017, Petty Officer II, Timothy Thomas Eckels Jr., USN, Died suddenly while enroute to Changi, Singapore, while serving his country aboard the USS John S. McCain. Born October 31, 1993 in Baltimore City, Maryland to Timothy Thomas Eckels and Rachel (Pinkston) Eckels. Loving brother to Shamir Pinkston of Virginia, Laura Eckels, of Washington, D.C., Gabriel, Gavin, and Genevieve Eckels, of North Carolina. Grandson of Jane and Gene Voight, and Irvin and Shirley Pinkston. He will be missed by his stepmother Sonnie Plakotaris-Eckels, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and his niece Olivia. Predeceased by his paternal grandfather William Eckels, and his aunt Lynn Eckels.
Visitation will be held on October 9, 2017 at the Calvary United Methodist Church 403 S. Main Street, Mt. Airy MD, 21771 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and on October 10, 2017 at Alfred Street Baptist Church, 301 S. Alfred Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
