Tracy Ann Zito passed away on July 8, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.
Tracy was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, on April 28,1958. A 1976 graduate of Roy C.
Ketcham High School, Tracy attended Keene State College earning her Special Education
degree in 1980. She subsequently studied at Gallaudet University and was awarded a Master’s
Degree in 1991. Tracy was a beloved special education teacher in New Hampshire and later in
Maryland where she impacted the lives of countless students and their families. She had
enormous love for all her students, the more special the better.

Nicknamed “Tee Tee” by her oldest niece, she was Tee Tee to all of her nieces, nephews, and
the children of her many friends, all of whom she loved as her own and worked tirelessly to spoil
rotten.

Tracy’s generous spirit and love for others did not come to an end with her death. Her legacy
will endure in the hope she brought to others with her final, life giving gifts.

Tracy is survived by her parents Lorraine and Charles Zito of Washington, DC, siblings, Michael
and Adrian Zito of Alexandria, VA, Lori and Kenny Colmer of Yarmouth Port, MA, Chip Zito of
Buford, GA, and Danny and Isabel Zito of Arlington, VA. She is also survived by her nieces and
nephews Samantha, Devon, Keagan, Ryan, Francesca, Sammy, Aidan, and Kylie. Tracy loved
and adored her great niece Ava who brought her so much joy. Tracy is also survived by
countless friends and their children.

A celebration of life will be held on September 25, 2021, in the greater DC area. Details to
follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to Gallaudet University where the funds
will be earmarked for student scholarships in the Hearing Undergraduate Program (HUG). HUG
enables and educates students to pursue careers that further the education of deaf and hard of
hearing individuals, a pursuit Tracy was so passionate about. Donations can be made here:
